BARQUIST / WALTER REED PRENATAL CARE
The Obstetrics department at Walter Reed is requesting that all patients followed in outpatient Military Treatment Facilities in the National Capital Region (i.e. Barquist) who will be delivering at Walter Reed, transfer their OB care prior to 36 weeks gestation, (ideally at 34 weeks). This will enable Walter Reed opportunity to determine whether special antepartum testing is required before the expectant mother reaches 36 weeks gestation as well as the frequency of the appointments for the remainder of the pregnancy. Every pregnancy is unique, and Walter Reed wants to ensure an individualized care plan for each expectant mother. Please call (301) 295-5552 to schedule your appointment at Walter Reed.

NEW AFTER-HOURS SERVICE FOR BARQUIST BENEFICIARIES
SERVICE START DATE: 30 MAY 2014
1-800-TRICARE (1-800- 874-2273), option 1
24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Under a new service, TRICARE beneficiaries can now access a team of registered nurses by telephone for advice about immediate health care needs. This service will replace the current after-hours care process, so please save the phone number.
The Nurse Advice Line, available at no cost to beneficiaries, helps callers make informed decisions about self-care at home or when to see a health care provider. The Nurse Advice Line is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Nurse Advice Line nurses ask a series of questions about a caller’s specific concerns to advise when and how to seek care for an urgent problem or give instruction on self-care at home. For pediatric issues, the NAL will route the beneficiary to a pediatric nurse. If follow-up is necessary or requested, the NAL will call the beneficiary back to check the child’s status a few hours later. The NAL will make same-day appointments with the beneficiary’s primary care manager (PCM) for TRICARE Prime beneficiaries who are enrolled to Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs). If a same day appointment is not available, the NAL will re-direct the beneficiary to the closest urgent care center, and advise the PCM that an urgent care referral is needed so the patient does not have to worry about paying any point of service co-pays.
The Nurse Advice Line supports nearly all TRICARE beneficiaries in the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii. TRICARE beneficiaries eligible to use the Nurse Advice Line include those using TRICARE Prime, TRICARE Prime Remote (TPR), TRICARE Prime Remote for Active Duty Family Members (TPRADFM), TRICARE Standard and TRICARE Extra, TRICARE Reserve Select (TRS), TRICARE Retired Reserve (TRR), TRICARE Young Adult (TYA), and TRICARE For Life (TFL).
Call the Nurse Advice Line at 1-800- TRICARE (1-800-874-2273) and select option 1 for medical advice.
This service will replace the current after-hours care process, so please save the number!
